But that has nothing to do with "painting," it's more like "glazing" or "staining." When painting, you no longer see the wood grain, it ultimately looks like plastic, that's what I meant. In the picture above, it looks good, that's how you should have it done, if that's possible.

20 years ago I painted a wooden slatted wall with latex paint and was absolutely thrilled with the result. Based on that experience, about 5 years ago I painted our self-built shoe cabinet (pine wood) again with regular latex paint from the hardware store in white and was thrilled again. The paint works excellently on wood and adheres perfectly. Here is a photo.

No, definitely not... it is latex paint from the hardware store. I bought and painted it myself. I even saved the container so I could remember the product.
