Hi everyone,

I need to renew the paint on a cast concrete staircase indoors, not the tread surface, only the edge. The staircase was already painted white by the previous owner; how should I best approach repainting it? Since, as mentioned, it is indoors and there are many corners and edges to paint, I cannot choose a complicated method that produces dirt and dust with complete removal of the old paint, but would like to - if possible - paint over the old paint.

Which paint and which pre-treatment should be chosen?

I can't say exactly what kind of paint is currently on it, it was not painted by me.

I am grateful for any advice, photos can be provided if necessary.

Best regards, Sebastian

Then just upload the photos - without them, no one can really imagine what exactly is supposed to be done

How about concrete paint?
You can also easily paint over it.
We also painted the floor in the basement with it.

So, attached are 2 photos.

Regarding the concrete color: Does repainting work? How to pretreat? I don’t want the paint to peel off at the first "touch."

Thanks in advance for your help

I would have absolutely no concern about using concrete paint or exterior plaster paint. We had a lot of concrete on the outside of the old house as balcony supports, etc., which we always painted as well when we did the facade.

And here we are indoors: what could possibly go seriously wrong? You don’t have to protect anything from the weather.
