Hello everyone,

I recently bought a detached house which now needs a complete renovation. In the house, there is an artificial stone staircase that I would like to redesign in terms of color. Covering it with parquet or carpet is out of the question. I have already spent a long time reading on the Internet and have also contacted several manufacturers of paints and varnishes, but so far I have not received any help. Since the staircase is used daily, it must also have a certain abrasion resistance. It is an artificial stone staircase, which is partly open-pored. Of course, I could simply start painting and test how long this or that paint lasts, but I do not want to take that risk. I hope that someone here has already attempted something like this before. I have thought about facade paint, but that usually contains fungicides, which would not be ideal for indoors. Alternatively, paints that have been used for painting tiles. I would be very happy to receive ideas!

Unfortunately, I can't provide many ideas (I would probably do something different than painting them), but I would advise against tile paint. In the kitchen, we painted the wall tiles with a system from Molto. It looks very nice, but it is not abrasion-resistant at all. You have to be very careful with the surface so that the paint does not come off. However, there may be other manufacturers / tile paints that are better suited for this. Classic "tile paint" rather not.
