Hello!

I am currently planning my floor plan.
If I now draw a straight staircase from the ground floor to the first floor, then the ceiling can protrude a bit over the staircase. In other words, an "overlap" of the ceiling over the staircase.

My question is, how large can this overlap be? For the staircase, I am assuming a length of 4.0 m.
A drawing for better understanding is attached.

Is 0.5 m overlap okay or too much?

You mean how many steps stand below the ceiling, that is, where it is not cut out for the staircase?

In your drawing, there would be 18 risers (each 15.83 cm based on a floor height of 285 cm), so in your example the steps below the overlap would result in a head height loss of 79.17 cm, which is probably too much. If at all, the idea of such an overlap is only feasible if only a single story is to be climbed – otherwise the staircases would shift in the floor plans above.

Where do you see only 0.5 m overlap?

Without the exit step, I would see more of 5.33 than 4 m stair length here.

Hello 11ant.

The picture in the attachment is just an example and not to scale 1:1. The number of steps is also not correct, as I said, just an example to understand my question.

"You mean how many steps are under the ceiling, that is, where it is not cut out for the stairs?"

Yes exactly!
For a straight staircase that is about 4 m long. Is 0.5 m okay?

Practically decisive is the clearance height - even tall people should not bump their heads. The rest is optics.

At 4 m length, that would probably be a ladder and this dimension is certainly not okay. What floor height are we talking about?

I am currently still at the beginning of the floor plan design. I am simply assuming the floor height to be "standard." So about 2.6 m.

What do you mean by the stepladder? A straight staircase is about 4 m long according to the picture (I found it here in the forum):
