Hello everyone,
Could that be asbestos in the basement? I mean the flooring? It is slowly coming loose from the edges. The house is from 1972 and I assume the floor is still from the year it was built.
Can I leave it like that?
Best regards,
Basti

Hello Basti, Your question has already been answered. Due to the year of construction, it could contain asbestos - but only an analysis can tell you whether this is the case. As long as the floor is not exposed to mechanical abrasion, there should be no problems.

What I can make out there is a PVC floor covering, which either completely detached from the leveling compound as a cohesion failure when lifted (see photo 1) or (more likely) was so poorly glued back then that staining liquids were able to seep under the covering. Without going into details now (which I could, but it would be quite extensive), the suspicion of asbestos is so far-fetched that it is not seriously to be considered. However, anyone who does not want to believe it is not prevented from commissioning a corresponding analysis. Cost approx. 70,--€/sample. Regards: KlaRa
