Hello,
in the next few days we will be installing an oiled oak parquet (click parquet country plank by the company Haro) floating in our kitchen (4m x 4m floor area). The manufacturer specifies a wall gap of 2 mm per meter, at least 10 - 15 mm. The kitchen unit will stand on the parquet along two walls in an L-shape, including a heavy wood stove.
Now to my questions:
1. Do I need to leave a larger gap at the free walls, since the parquet on the side where the kitchen stands might not be able to move due to the weight?
If yes, what gap would you recommend?
The planned skirting boards are 2 cm thick, and if possible I would like to stay below that :-)
2. Would it be better to glue the planks since the parquet is installed in the kitchen in order to seal the joints?
3. Should the floor be oiled again after installation as a precaution, or is it sufficient to apply the sealant?
I have not found any specific installation instructions for the kitchen on the internet, and thought I would ask in the forum first before contacting the manufacturer.
Looking forward to answers,
Best regards
