Obtain offers through intermediaries and then go directly to the banks?

Hello,

I have now obtained offers from various intermediaries. Does it make sense to contact the banks directly now to get even better conditions, or is it not worth it?

Ps: Please only respond if you have personal experience ;)

own experience: the banks that have made a concrete (!) offer through the intermediary do not make you a better one personally, but rather a worse one.

Of course, no statement with general validity :)

I am financing for the second time through the same broker. Mine is definitely worth his money. How do you come to believe that you can do better or negotiate better terms?

A broker is not only there to survey the market and get you the best offer but also to compile the documents and especially the numbers in such a way that you get approval.

EDIT: Oh, you again :). Choose the one who earns the 4-5k€ and that’s that.

So we went to our house bank with an offer and said if they at least match it, then we will finance with them. That is what our house bank did.

So asking doesn’t hurt. They can’t really say no more than no.

Although I have been a customer there for a long time and the whole family certainly uses a significant number of financial products, the house bank couldn’t (or didn’t want to?) come close to matching the terms they themselves offer – but only through brokers. Apparently, the business unit “retail customer branch” simply handles fewer financing deals than the “broker” business unit and therefore (although internal within the group) gets worse terms than the external broker (who, by the way, is a subsidiary of a completely different bank, but that’s just an aside :-D )

Regards,
Steph

What is that actually for??

In my experience, the intermediary conditions are better. However, one must also consider that these are commission transactions both internally and externally. That means if the object/project is already in the system, a second sales channel will be rejected anyway. This is the moment when the intermediary asks, "Have you already been to xy?"
