Number of built-in spots in the bedroom

We plan to install recessed spots in all bedrooms. There are different opinions regarding the number. The bedroom is approximately 16 m2 (4x4m) in size. Spots with a beam angle of 45 degrees or a luminous power of 50 watts per spot (of course an energy-saving alternative with similar luminous power) are to be installed. Usually, the distance between the spots should be around 1 m. In this case, that would be 9 spots. What do you think? Would 4 or 5 be sufficient?

9 x 50 W as general lighting will definitely illuminate the room; four spots will not be enough for that - but they are sufficient as accent lighting. Especially in the bedroom, you don’t want continuous illumination of the room, so subtle lighting is also required. Perhaps a series circuit would be appropriate; that way you have bright general lighting with one switch position and a more subtle one with a second switch position. Dimmable spotlights would be another option. For the selection and distribution of the lamps, one should get advice in a specialty store.
