While painting the roof overhang (three-layer panels), I noticed that quite a lot of warm air was coming out at the ridge during the E-screed heating phase. Then I also saw that the roof overhang only rests on the wall crown, partly with small gaps. There is no insulation either, although I actually expected that.
The roof is insulated from the outside with an external rafter insulation and from the inside between the rafters with fiberglass wool, as the rooms are finished up to the roof.
Now, when I think about the fact that there is no insulation between the roof overhang and the wall crown, I really don’t understand it; we are building a KFW 55 EE house with 36.5 insulation bricks.
Can you help/advise us here whether all this sounds okay? Maybe it is enough not to insulate further, but only to apply the plaster from the outside?
If it is not professional, who made a mistake here – the bricklayer who did not put an insulation membrane on the wall crown or the carpenter who did not provide insulation?
How could the whole thing be fixed? There is not much space left between the wall crown and the roof overhang; only in isolated spots could one possibly try to insulate with PU foam?
Many thanks for your advice.
