And does the red cable really come from the distribution box? Maybe try connecting everything to brown first. Basically, not much can be wired wrong if earth, N, and phase of both lamps are connected together. Unfortunately, I can't help further. Did the fuse or the RCD trip? The latter probably indicates moisture. But always remember: electricity makes you small, black, and ugly.
Yes, the red was already there and comes out of the wall alongside the others. I also already connected it to brown, then both lamps stayed on permanently (before the second one broke...). So the red cable is switched via the light switch.
The fuse tripped, not the RCD.
