I would do it differently... find a good heating engineer and ask what he installs - then he also knows what he is doing during installation and maintenance.

I would suggest that too, get a few quotes and maybe bring them up for discussion.
You won't be able to replace the heating system yourself anyway, right?

Exactly, if you need a heating engineer anyway, they should give you a few offers, then you can (remotely with limitations) discuss what makes sense.

May I ask why you want to replace the boiler? Is it broken?

Good question. No, it is not. But according to the [Energieeinsparverordnung], I have to replace it after 30 years anyway as far as my information goes. I assumed it wouldn't hurt to start looking just today.
