New construction - sewage odors in the house

I just listened to the episode "Incense Stick Affair." Amusing for sure :) The older married couple lives next door to us, but I know that very well. They are my parents-in-law, our halves of the house are connected in the utility room (connecting door) and the smell is only on our side. I can rule out their side.
