New construction: Are craftsmen services tax-deductible after moving in?

Have you done the taxes yourself, is it manageable? And how high should I imagine the wage portion of, let's say, a 40,000 euro landscaping project? Do I reach the 6,000 euros from which I can then deduct 20%, that is 1,200 euros tax liability?

I do the declaration myself via Elster and send it to the tax office online. Without receipts. If necessary, they get in touch and request some. Happened in 2018, but not so far in 2019. They have, I know this from officials there, integrated software in Elster that compares the declaration with those of previous years and checks for plausibility. If nothing comes up, it goes through without receipts. However, an official always has to approve it in the end and release it for payment. Which is usually a formality if the entry is plausible. They say the software is so good that it catches and cross-checks almost all suspicions of fraud. K.
