We are getting a double washbasin with 4 drawers underneath, which will have extra wide handles to hang towels on. On one side there will be an additional handle for the third towel.

And no, it doesn’t bother me to lift the towel when I need to access the bottom drawer - only rarely used items will go in there.

thank you for the many suggestions and advice.

I don't think we can really fit a wooden ladder in due to space reasons. But since we have also considered a washbasin cabinet, the idea of the rods mounted on it is probably the best solution. Now we just have to decide on a color.
