Hello everyone,
we have water damage in the vinyl floor due to a blockage in the sewage system. Three rooms are affected.
When we emptied the full bathtub, water pressed out from the drain trap of the shower below. When we noticed shortly afterwards, the bathroom on the ground floor was already flooded, as well as the hallway...
Today I removed about 2 sqm of vinyl to take a look. The cork under the vinyl has become damp, otherwise we have prevented the worst. The screed is dry because of the foil on the screed.
My question now is, do you think the cork will dry by itself again or should we remove everything?
No sewage water was involved, just bathtub water as mentioned...

If it was not a glued system, but merely a loosely laid one, then in my opinion the risk that moisture also got under the cover plates is quite high. In this respect, the cover plates should then be removed and subjected to drying. However, if the plates were glued, the situation will be apparent based on bulges on the surface or blistering especially at the element edges. The cork (as the backing) will not dry out through the PVC top layer at the necessary speed. The sD value of the covering is too high for that. The possible consequence: unpleasant odors and blistering at the element edges. Nothing more can be said about this from a distance. Regards and continued success: KlaRa
