Hello WilderSueden!
Thanks to you too for your answer!
We basically have no soil.
Almost the entire house stands on a thick gravel cushion.
Although slightly on a slope, it still stands on gravel at the end...
Underneath is clay at some point, but it was and is not swampy.
Behind the terrace, there is an area that occasionally becomes slightly swampy, but the gravel is far away there as well – but the three arborvitae as a privacy screen to the neighbors now absorb the water quite well there.
Yes, we tried to buy "good" dimpled foil and also installed it correctly.
But does that even make sense at all?
Because it doesn’t go deep down, there is some gravel below or a few slate tiles on top of it, and that’s it.
Would a simple dimpled membrane really have to stick out that far (and ugly!) and cause everything behind it to *potentially* mold?
Best regards
Christian
What kind of soil do you have? The winter was relatively wet and maybe the house is standing in a swamp now?
Otherwise, the dimpled foil with filter fleece was correctly installed facing the "earth." For me, the only question is why use such a thing at all. Water seeps through the gravel almost as well as through the filter fleece. With a simple dimpled membrane and dimples facing the house, there would be at least a bit more air between the foil and the wall.
