Hello everyone,

I would like to finish my terrace, which I am currently paving, soon.

Regarding the jointing, the choice was between paving joint mortar (permeable to water) or simple jointing sand, which would then be treated with a joint stabilizer to obtain a solid joint. I have already had good experience with the joint stabilizer on my paved stair landing in front of the front door, where the joints were already swept with quartz sand.

Now, the thing is that the joints are not filled yet, and I am currently wondering if I could mix the jointing sand together with the joint stabilizer in my mixer and then sweep the mixture into the joints like with the paving joint mortar?

The big problem with the joint stabilizer on an already sanded joint is that you either have to work very precisely along the joints, for example with a small bottle and a dosing attachment, or you spray the entire surface with a Gloria sprayer and end up with a very high consumption because most of it lands on the paving stones and is largely absorbed there, which is not really the purpose of it, but it does have a color-enhancing impregnation effect, which is why the first method, where you only pour the product into the joint, is very laborious because otherwise you later see overflowing material on the pavement.

Hence the consideration to mix this directly in advance with the joint sand and sweep it in.
What do you think, or does anyone have experience with and knowledge about the product?

Ready-made paving joint mortar is incredibly expensive, and the simple joint sand is already available and, of course, cheaper.
