Living at the edge of the field is nice, but the mouse pressure is high.

In winter all the cushions are in the garden shed. A box lined with sheet metal inside protects the cushions of the seating set, that is good. But there are more and longer, unfortunately also more expensive cushions, which I had hung on hooks in the shed. Mouse damage I was able to mend one, but one was ready for the trash. Allegedly there are supposedly mouse-proof covers made of fiberglass fabric, but I couldn’t find anything like that. Does anyone know something?

I cannot fit such a huge box (preferably made of sheet metal) which would certainly be good. So right now all the cushions live inside the house, but they cannot stay there either. A little bungalow, not basemented.

Best regards

Gabriele

rentokil has collected a few behavioral tips under "Hausmittel Mäuse". In summary, the tip is roughly: make the garden shed mouse-proof.

I tried using traps, it works, but I caught 3 species out of 4 mice that like different things, and you have to have an appealing bait in there all year round.

Unfortunately, I don't have a cat myself, but there are plenty of barn cats here for which I always put out a cat dish. Recently, one came by specially, I was just putting out some trimmed-off beef roast. She carried a half-dead mouse in her mouth, looked at me with interest, spit the mouse at my feet, ate the Sunday roast, and walked away. Still, she folds her paws above her head when she secretly inspects the house and encounters us.

Cats. It was the only effective method at my parents' and friends' places. Just the smell of an enemy everywhere is enough for initial success. Although the first generation of cats caught many mice until the mouse path was hardly used anymore.

Teach her that there are no treats for half-dead mice
