KFW-55 according to Energy Saving Ordinance 2009 (which was valid until last year) is still valid. The KFW-55 standard in the same form still clearly exists and is still built that way.

Where district heating comes from: What do I know? Ask the supplier, there are numerous options and carriers for that. In any case, pipes for hot water then run to the house.

A project Kfw70 with Energy Saving Ordinance 2016: belongs to the realm of myths and fairy tales. Because there has been no KFW-70 in this Energy Saving Ordinance for a long time. The Energy Saving Ordinance 100 would be the standard. The provider here apparently has no idea if they start like that; I would be very cautious. People who still say things like the provider these days cannot have any clue. Even as a layman I know that.

Pellets: Many around me have them as a block heating plant. Saves construction costs. Not cheap in maintenance. My heating in the single-family house is cheaper. But not unappealing either, as it also saves space in the house. Everything has advantages and disadvantages. Personally, I would not consider it; I would not want a house that is not self-sufficient. But everyone has to judge that for themselves. Price-wise, as said, quite good – many young families with children here around me enjoy that in semi-detached houses/RH.

And if you don’t know what Energy Saving Ordinance is: there are internet search engines. Just enter the term and get informed. We don’t need to educate you about such basic building knowledge; you can figure that out yourself.

ask the Hanau municipal utilities how the district heating is generated.

They seem to be houses from developers. They then build according to x or y. You have to bear the respective purchase price according to the building description.

Doing nothing.....hmm. I don’t think so. That never helps in life.

But your exact question is hard to answer now.
