Hello everyone. Seven years ago we bought an old building (semi-detached house) from 1970 - solid house. We have a crack in the basement room - on the wall that goes to the other half of the house. Is something like this dangerous? I never thought about it but still wanted to ask. The crack was already there when we bought it. Thanks for your initial assessment!

The small crack? Psh, I would never have thought about that either.

Well, it does go all the way from the ceiling to the floor. But still inconspicuous?

I'm not a structural engineering expert, but I think it's uncritical. Just a layman's opinion!

Hi, I would mark the extent with pencil marks or regular photos. If the crack doesn’t get bigger and no moisture comes through, it is probably not a big problem. If the crack grows larger over the years, there is certainly urgent need for action. Best regards, Andreas
