Hi!

I have a question: how do you actually make apple juice? I have like 2 old apple trees in the garden, and most of the apples rot because we never manage to eat them all. Also, they are not even that good for eating. So I recently thought that I could make juice from them. Thx for your info...

Cheers,
sennor :D

Hi sennor!

Obviously, it’s easiest if you have a juicer. With it, you can easily press the apples into juice. If you don’t have a juicer, you can try the following:
You roughly dice the apples, put them in a pot, and mash them with a masher. Then add 1 liter of water to 2kg of apples. Bring it to a boil and let it simmer for about 10 minutes. Then pour the liquid through a fine and large hair sieve. The strained juice goes back into a pot. Then add 40g of sugar. Bring it to a boil again and skim off the foam. Finally, add 0.5 [Pck. Einmachhilfe] and stir well.
You then just have to sterilize about 4 bottles, fill in the juice, seal well, and the apple juice is ready! The juice is good for 1 year unopened.

Gartenbau :)

Hi Gartenbau!

This recipe sounds really good, and you’re right: I really don’t have a juicer. I will definitely try this when the apples are ripe!

Best regards,

Of course, there is also the possibility to use the whole apple (except for the core and the peel, of course) and make delicious compote out of it! ;) And from experience, self-pressed apple juice is not very friendly to the stomach and also extremely sour. :( But maybe I just had the wrong recipe, or maybe the wrong apples?

Best regards

hi!

yes, it is very important to make sure to use VERY sweet apples. otherwise, the juice will of course also become sour. instead of sugar, you can also use honey to sweeten the juice.
