Hello everyone,

We will start the earthworks for our construction project in mid-November. The building company is Massivhaus Mittelrhein GmbH.

Our plot is located in the village center on a side street. The street is not paved, but only gravelled. The problem is that the neighbor, with the municipality’s tolerance, built a private channel under the path years ago. However, it lies only 40 cm deep.

My question now is, how can this channel be secured cost-effectively? Am I responsible for this?

I see the problem that if we refuse to secure the path, the municipality will put up a sign regarding the maximum load, and we will no longer be able to access the property with the construction vehicles.

Best regards

Marco Egenolf

Under your street? Sewer made of what? Concrete pipes? They easily withstand 20 tons and more.

A channel of 10 cm thick old clay pipe. The channel is only 40 cm below the gravel cover.

Iron plate on top and that's that, nothing will happen!

But now about the pipe, why is it on your property? Easement?

It is not under my property. The pipe lies under the "Straße". However, it is a rather well-developed country road.
