Hello everyone,

we have just received an offer from our plumber for the maintenance of the heating system.
The following services are included in the offer:

Inspection of the house water filter for functionality including replacement of the water filter cartridge
Maintenance of the small lifting system including cleaning if necessary
Maintenance of the air-water heat pump consisting of:
Cleaning the heat exchanger of the outdoor unit
Checking for leaks on both the cooling and water sides
Functions of pumps, mixing valves, compressor, etc.
Function check of the control system
Inspection of the sacrificial anode in the domestic hot water tank
Inspection of the built-in bathroom fan including filter replacement

Net: 262 €

What do you think about this?
Sensible or not?
Costs reasonable or too expensive?

Filter in the bathroom fan and filter water system please do it yourself, once a year is too little. Otherwise, the price is high, 50,- euros net times 5 hours would be 250, and five hours are not included. Unless there is some kind of insurance included, I will wait, if there is still something, I will come and fix it free of charge.

See it like nordlys. Assuming 50:50 work/material. What does he want to do there for two hours and change it for €130? What kind of water filter do you have there? Normally they are backwashable, you go once a quarter, turn them 360 degrees with a bucket underneath, and done. Or what do you have there? You can also do the leakage check yourself. Even a layperson can see that. And there will be pressure sensors in the device that complain if something leaks. Especially since you have a 5-year warranty anyway, in case something is leaking. He can also rather apply the polish for the outdoor unit to his car :)

By a maintenance contract, do you mean one of those long-term contracts where the heating specialist comes every year? Where you basically commit to a company for a longer period, get a fixed price over several years, and sometimes also a few percent off spare parts?

We have a gas heating system. It is maintained by the company that installed it back then, and they do it according to the manufacturer's specifications from Vaillant. I have them come annually, but without a maintenance contract. Because of that, I might have to wait a bit longer for an appointment, but I could also switch providers. Last year it cost 220€, with the maintenance itself at 142.90€ and the repair (magnesium anode, gasket, something emptied/vented/refilled, technician hours) at 79.19€. It took about 2 hours (an apprentice was there and was explained a lot, so much less was charged). Of course, you have a different heating type, but just as a point of reference. For you, the 260€ is just the price for the maintenance itself, right?
