Only the actual issue with the air, when the connection is at the bottom and the resulting improper venting, has unfortunately not yet been answered.

There are many MAGs that have the connection on the side or at the bottom. Venting is not possible at all in this case and also not necessary. The air pocket that remains there has no impact on the proper function.
