Hello everyone,

I have bought a used old Billy shelf from the 90s. Unfortunately, the screws for assembly are missing.
I’m looking for these screws (silver-colored), which have a hole in the middle through which other screws (black) are inserted. The whole thing is then tightened from the outside with this Ikea Allen key. It looks something like this:

New Billys no longer have these screws but plastic ones that don’t fit.
I have already been to the Ikea store, but there are no matching screws there anymore.
An inquiry at Ikea headquarters didn’t help either; they just referred me back to the store.
What I’m trying now is, of course, to buy another old Billy, throw it away, and keep only the screws, but that hasn’t worked so far.
Are these screws available outside of Ikea and what are they called?
Or does anyone have spare screws?
I’ll pay well

Thanks and best regards

Mathilde from Ffm

Hello Mathilde,

from the two overviews you can choose the suitable size and order screws and nuts with the part numbers from your IKEA.

Regards from Sachsenhausen.

So, I looked at it on an existing shelf here, but unfortunately only had partial success.
I was able to identify the thing with the hole, that is "Nut Assembly Single."
However, the screw on the product sheet is not the right one – the one I have here is 56 mm long, which is not listed on the sheet, and the thread on the screw here goes all the way to the head, whereas on the product sheet it only extends over half the length of the screw.

Do you have any other ideas? Are there workarounds? The bolts should actually be the critical ones; if I have those, then you should actually be able to find some suitable screws at the hardware store, right?

Sorry if these are silly questions, I’m not usually a DIY person.

The "Ikea Fitting Catalogue" page is great anyway, I bookmarked it right away, thanks a lot!

Hello,

you will definitely find a suitable screw at the screw shop. Otherwise, it does not matter whether the thread is continuous, as long as it is long enough. If the hole is deep enough, the screw can also be a bit longer. Depending on how far the existing screw protrudes beyond the socket wrench, a 50 mm long screw might also be sufficient.

I'll check in my basement over the weekend; I still have those screws from an old Ikea cabinet in the basement. If I have them, I'll upload a picture here - but it might be Sunday!
