Hello,

we had a 21m deep garden water well on our property, operated with a suction pump, but unfortunately the water column always dropped very far, so it took forever until water came.

In the course of demolishing our old house and building a new one, the well had to be removed. We now want to build a new one and this time with a submersible pump. I have offers ranging from €3500 to €4500. Most providers want €1500 for the pump, but I have one provider who would drill the well quite cheaply and install an existing pump for a flat fee.

Now I looked into submersible pumps, they start at €149 up to €1000. Unfortunately, I have no knowledge of 3" pumps, can someone make a recommendation? Or can one generally say that a pump for €400 to €500 is okay?

I have a suction pump for the rainwater cistern in the basement. I find everything OK. The pump costs 149 euros.

With us, one is not allowed to build a well.

The pumps from Tipp work and are cheap. If one breaks, just replace it. If you want something high-quality, you can check out Wilo. Then you're looking at four digits. If the budget is tight, I would go with Tipp.

Suction pump is rather not suitable for a 21 meter height difference. And probably quite "weak on the chest" as well. For example, for automatic irrigation, you need sufficient pressure and flow.

Which pump is good and affordable nowadays I cannot tell you. My parents had a well drilled about 40 years ago and the company installed a Grundfos pump.

I can't say the exact type, only that it is a 380 V or today a 400 V pump.

A thick black plastic pipe is connected to it. I estimate the inner diameter of the pipe from memory to be 2 inches.

This is connected to a 150 liter pressure tank.

If you have a bore well made, I would not choose the inner diameter of the well pipe so tight that the pump just fits inside, but definitely larger.

A 400V pump is not necessary. Even powerful pumps can now be operated with 230V because they have become much more efficient. Proper "heavy-duty" pumps do not make sense for such an application and can then cost a five-figure amount.
