Good day,
We are in the middle of the construction planning and need some information.

In the offer from the construction company, it states that a [Kalk Zement putz mg ll] will be applied, which will be smoothed by rubbing. What can one imagine by this, are the walls then paintable? If not, what steps are necessary to make the wall smooth enough to paint? Is there also a possibility to apply this plaster so that it is immediately smoothed and paintable? Maybe someone has a photo for me, unfortunately I cannot imagine anything under the plaster.

We have lime-cement plaster as interior plaster throughout the whole house and had it painted directly. The result is actually relatively smooth - but I think it's hard to show in photos.

Well, I have to disagree with you there - at least the ideas of "smooth" seem to differ. The photos are quite uninformative - at least in the first photo I can somehow recognize the rough texture of the KZP.

Lime-cement plaster can be smoothed so that you don't have a bumpy surface - not everyone manages that. But it can never become as smooth as gypsum - trowel marks are often visible. Some like this rustic look, but for most it's not something they want.

A colleague also had his entire house done with KZP and painted - it's just too rough for me.

KZP is also not a classic topcoat plaster, but a very good base plaster - the rules state that a topcoat plaster still has to be applied to achieve the proper result.

We left the KZP as it was in the basement, but on the other two floors I filled and sanded everything again. For the garage, I'm considering whether I'll just fill it again for fun, because those are nice, large surfaces.

Did you do all the filling and sanding yourself? My husband is very skilled at crafts and thinks he could do it himself. I have my doubts about whether something like that shouldn't be done by a professional. What kind of filler should be used, can you recommend anything? How much time does something like that take?

Yes, everything done myself and my wife had the same concerns

There must be plenty of time - I needed weeks for it. But of course not all at once - but it really can't be done in just a few days to plaster and ultimately sand an entire house.

I used Multifinish from Knauf - liked it best.

If it should be really smooth, I then used Knauf Fertig-Finish, that makes it really easy, but double the work.

Thank you for your response, now I am mentally much further along in the planning. Can you by any chance also tell me how many bags or kg are needed? Is 1 kg per square meter sufficient?
