Hello everyone,

at Team Massivhaus, the attic is constructed using lightweight construction for some house types, e.g., the family house.

What do you think about that? Many other solid construction companies also build the attic using solid construction. What are the advantages and disadvantages?

Probably the price is also significantly lower than with other solid construction companies because of this.

Has anyone gained experience? How exactly is the lightweight construction implemented? Are OSB boards installed in addition to the drywall panels so that things can be securely attached?

Many thanks and best regards

Even Heinz von Heiden uses drywall construction as standard in the attic. I had inspected the filling of the ceilings/walls. In the end, however, I had it done solidly on the upper floor as well. The additional cost, offset by the filling (less to fill), was ultimately around 2K or even a little less. What I wanted to say with this is that in the end, the surcharge for something “stable” is not really that much.

One this way, the other that way. I wouldn’t claim that one construction method is better or worse than another. What matters is that the work is done properly. That’s why you should ask carefully how the drywall partitions are planned. Single (only gypsum board) or double (OSB plus gypsum board). Of course, that makes a difference in price but above all in quality. I would, for example, always prefer the latter to aerated concrete.

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Just an off-topic question. How can you edit your post?

That is indeed crucial. It's better to invest a bit more in a good craftsman than to focus only on the material. A good craftsman achieves better results even with simpler materials.
