Hello everyone,

we are currently planning our lighting concept for the hallway on the upper floor using LED spots. At the moment, we are relying on our gut feeling to determine the correct number and position of LED spots. Our plan currently looks as follows. I would like to hear your opinions on whether we might have overlooked something. Since we have a podium staircase to the upper floor, it is important to us that this is properly illuminated.

Attached you will find our floor plan of the hallway with the marked LED spots. Please provide honest criticism and potential for improvement.

The hallway is 3.26m wide and 7.07m long.

Thank you very much and best regards Julian

The positioning is quite OK. Now you just need to find the right light sources. These differ significantly in quality. Important are: uniformity of radiation, glare tendency, luminous intensity, beam angle, and light color. This determines whether it will be good or bad.

Thank you for your assessment. Which LED spots can you recommend? Which parameters in the datasheet should be given special attention? I am wondering if there is enough light on the second part of the podium stairs...

Uniformity and glare you won’t see on any data sheet, and it is amazing how different lights from various manufacturers with 3000K color temperature can look. Definitely make sure to check – and not in a store where 1000 lamps are lit at the same time. In the standard size, for example, Luxvenum spots convinced me; we have them in the bathroom. Very uniform and pleasant light and reasonably priced. I am really enthusiastic about Ansorg – they come from professional commercial lighting but also supply private projects. The recessed lights have their own formats. The light is simply sensational. The prices are on the higher side but not outrageous. We have them, among other places, in the entrance and the covered part of the terrace.

Nowadays, I wouldn't rely on spotlights anymore. Instead, flat LED lights. This also reduces the number by half. The light distribution is more favorable and the wiring effort is lower.

Can you name a manufacturer/model? Then I would be happy to take a look at them. Thank you very much
