Hello everyone.

Maybe someone can help me. I am looking for a photo on the internet to show our BU what I mean, but I can't find anything or don't know what to search for.

The following situation: Our roof is not continuous on one side but partly set back because of a balcony. The gutter of the recessed part should lead into the gutter of the longer part. Currently, it is solved like this (sorry for the not so great photo):

We only discovered this yesterday and therefore have not yet been able to clarify whether this is a temporary solution or the final result. In any case, it looks quite ugly.

I have seen houses where the pipe from the upper gutter runs parallel to the roof slope and is then connected laterally to the lower gutter.

Maybe someone has this at their place or knows what this situation is called?

The case with your balcony is called a "thoughtless solution with standard components". Since there is not much that can be done structurally now, I would direct the water onto the other roof instead of running it along the entire balcony wall with an exposed pipe. Unfortunately, someone did not think this through to the end.

What do you mean by that? The plan was to drain into the lower gutter, as there is (no longer) a drainage option from the balcony. My thought was that the drain pipe should be connected to the upper gutter on the side and not downward.

I agree with hampshire. It’s kind of carelessly thrown together with what was available at the time. There are definitely better solutions. Could you take a picture standing on the scaffold of the overall situation and upload it?

As you imagine it, it’s rather not possible.

I agree with you. As I said, it is also possible that this is just a temporary solution for now. (At least I hope so :rolleyes

Unfortunately, I can't provide photos today, but next week.
