Hello,
We would like to take out legal expenses insurance that covers us during the renovation of a listed farmhouse. The renovation costs will be around 400,000 euros. Coverage should include, for example, disputes with the construction companies regarding shoddy workmanship or excessive invoices.
We have already done some research, but apparently there is not much choice.
Örag does not offer legal protection for monuments, Arag only has coverage of 10,000 € over the entire term. According to a phone inquiry at Advocard, it is included in the basic coverage, but since that is already available for 18 €/month, there seems to be some catch somewhere.

Does anyone have experience?

Best regards
Egon

You have hardly any chance to insure yourself for construction / or renovation with legal protection. There are a few providers who do this, but only in connection with financing (with one of their partners).

In very few cases does a legal dispute in construction lead to anything. Rather spend the money on an expert who checks the offers and companies.

If you get any legal expenses insurance at all, the amount is usually capped so that it’s easier for you to pay for a legal dispute yourself.... because the really serious cases are then not insured

What kind of "terrible things" are these? Are they already excluded in the insurance terms and conditions?

Everything that is expensive ... I mean the amount is simply capped .... if a roof costs 30k and there are problems with it, you can calculate the amount in dispute yourself ... it is then simply capped ... and I say: for a small dispute I don't need legal expenses insurance ... I would want to insure myself against the really bad / expensive stuff
