I lowered the ceiling in the bathroom by 10cm and extensively protected the vapor barrier with aluminum-coated Styrodur insulation before we installed the paneling and drilled the holes for the spots. Works perfectly without a junction box with normal LED spots.

Lowering the ceiling enough so that there is enough air between the spots and the foil is of course a good and economical option. We have another appointment with the construction company tomorrow, and then I will ask what is planned. Now I just don’t know if it is somehow problematic that it won’t be airtight then. Although the foil actually seals the room, right?

Correct, the vapor barrier forms the airtight layer.
