Laying paving stones with a 2cm gap like lawn joint paving?

Does anyone have experience with greening the joints, does it work as hoped?

For everyone facing the same question: On my uncovered parking space, I have grass joint stones (with about a 2 cm joint) and from spring onwards, nature takes over. Weeds, moss, dandelions. Growing like crazy. Whether the joints are filled with gravel or soil. Because the joints are currently filled with soil, steaming is out of the question. I tried that and it turned into a mud battle. The stones weather and just look untended.
