Hello,

I would like to lay the dimpled membrane myself and then do the splash guard. I have a question. At the moment, it looks like this at our place (see picture). You can see the insulation board (so this Styrofoam and below it the base slab). Do I also have to lay the dimpled membrane on the base slab (and thus also dig it out) or is it enough to lay it in front of the Styrofoam boards?

Thank you very much in advance!

Apart from the fact that I find the execution of the floor slab somewhat strange, yes, I would always expose 1 meter, attach the dimpled membrane, and backfill. Then expose the next meter, and so on. However, it seems to me that a reactive waterproofing (e.g. PCI Barraseal Turbo) makes sense before attaching the dimpled membrane. Cut off the protruding assembly foam of the XPS panels, thoroughly sweep the surface, and apply two layers of reactive waterproofing. The dimpled membrane is only protection during backfilling. The goal should be to keep as much moisture as possible away from the side of the floor slab and the XPS. Even if the construction above presumably rests on a spear layer, moisture often finds a way, no matter how impossible it seems.

Back to the construction of the floor slab: what is the purpose of the XPS at this point? Is the floor slab insulated underneath? If yes, then the XPS on the side should have been seamless with the XPS under the floor slab. As it is, there is a huge thermal bridge present. Or am I making a mistake in my reasoning? With us, the XPS was placed on the side of the XPS under the floor slab, so there is continuous 12 cm insulation all around.

The black bitumen sealing is missing, right?
