Hello lawn enthusiasts,

it looks very much like the Alpina lawn tractor is giving up the ghost. My husband is currently welding it and hopes that it will last another season. But we should already start looking for a replacement. We bought the Alpina back then very cheaply and more out of necessity. It was immediately available and still fit the budget. The machine did what it was supposed to do, but broke after just a few years. It is now 9 years old and I believe it has been welded somewhere every year for the past 4 years. So that’s not very convincing.

Therefore, the question to the group: can anyone recommend something? Budget is a maximum of 4,000 euros. Area is about 2,000 sqm of lawn. We are looking for a ride-on lawn tractor again. Please no discussions about robots or handheld devices. Looking forward to your experiences and tips.

We have had the Stiga Estate 384 for several years without any problems.

I had to manage a larger area until a few years ago

not 2000 sqm but it felt like 1000 bushes right in the middle

front mower deck is a whole different league.

Hello,
Thank you for the tips, but could you please write out the names?
What is better with a front mower?

I had a Stiga Park

With a front mower you can go full throttle around the bushes

it's kind of like parking forward

I also liked mulching better

I had a Husqvarna and now a Cube Cadet. Both good machines. We have 3000sqm and I’m done in 2 hours. The Cube Cadet is basically the Audi (VW) of MTD (budget brand). The downside of the front mower for me is that they are usually somewhat wider. I sometimes have to mow delicately in the garden. My Cube Cadet also has a very small turning circle, for example. I would recommend buying used; for 2,000€, you can get something solid. The tractors should still be kept in the garage, they don’t like being outside (bodywork).
