The truth lies - as often - in the middle of the many answers. Whether one should already call formats >30cm "large formats" is something I dare to doubt. However, one can definitely speak of a large format at (the here indicated at one point) 60cm x 120cm. Problems only arise when the panel thickness is too low (already experienced everything, including 8mm thickness with a panel size of 1.2m x 1.2m). Almost all other "problematic issues" can be mastered technically if at least the necessary build-up height is available. If the flatness of the substrate is not present to the necessary degree, then the entire surface must be evened out with a leveling or smoothing compound before the main task, or the panels must be laid in a mortar bed. Of course, it is logical that later the covering level must be given a possibility to relieve stresses. This is done on the one hand through the joint pattern with accordingly wide joints, and on the other hand (with larger areas) through perimeter joints. However: every implementation possibility has limits somewhere.
