Hello, I proceeded as follows:
Each room/area was assigned its own number. Starting from 01-Entrance up to 21-Carport.
For the physical addresses, each room received its own range of ten.
The motion detector at the entrance consequently has the physical address ending in 11, the switch at the entrance 12. The motion detector at the carport has 211. The actuators in the control cabinet then start at 22. These are further divided into actuator groups.
For example, a dimming actuator has 220/221/222, a switching actuator 230/231/232, a blind actuator 240/241/242.
With this division, the installation location can already be clearly determined based on the physical address. Quite interesting for diagnostics.
For the group addresses, I did it like this:
Main groups are sorted by trades.
0 - Central
1 - Lighting
2 - Switchable sockets
3 - Roller blinds/Shutters
4 - Window contacts
5 - Heating
etc.
Philips Hue and Sonos also have their own main groups here. Likewise presence detectors, weather station, and so on.
Middle groups are then chosen according to function, in the case of lighting:
1/0 - Central
1/1 - Switching
1/2 - Dimming
1/3 - Absolute dimming
1/4 - Switching feedback
1/5 - Dimming feedback
The respective group addresses are then again assigned to the aforementioned room numbers, also in ranges of tens.
The group address for switching the light in the entrance thus has 1/1/11, the associated status feedback has 1/4/11.
The lamp in the carport accordingly has 1/1/211, status 1/4/211.
Here, too, you can immediately see from the address which room it concerns.
We have been living in the house since 2017, and by now I rarely make changes. But I still find this structure very easy to manage and have never had any major space problems.
Only with the blocking functions of the blinds did it get a bit tight, but that was manageable too.
To be honest, I can no longer say where I got the structure from. I think I slightly modified either a version from Heinle or from EIBmeier.
But it doesn’t matter, I’m not claiming the idea for myself anyway ;)
