Hello everyone,

we want to build a single-family house as [KFN] without a ventilation system for financial reasons, does anyone have experience with this? Can problems arise from this? Or does anyone have experience with a ventilation system?

Thank you very much
Fabian

Are there more details on that? The quality of the answer cannot be better than that of the question.

In my opinion, a ventilation system is mandatory in every new building. You simply can't ventilate often enough to get rid of the stuffy air in the house. For me, not having one would be an absolute deal-breaker.
I have experience with both decentralized and centralized systems.
Save on any "stuff," but not on the ventilation.
Problems without one are rare but possible.

I would even add: a device with an enthalpy heat exchanger. Increase the humidity in winter and decrease it in summer. Our central ventilation runs 24/7. Change filters regularly, clean the fans and the device once a year, and you will enjoy it for a long time. Another advantage: all neighbors heat with wood stoves -> activated carbon filter in the system.

In many houses, a ventilation system is sensible. However, this always depends on the heating method and the air volumes in the rooms. In our house, completed in 2019, a ventilation system would be pure money waste without any added value.

Explain to the OP how your ventilation concept looks like. The heating does not matter in this case. The stale air does not care whether it is heated with gas, heat pump, underfloor heating or radiators. The room size also does not matter. What matters is what the ventilation concept says or whether the necessary air exchange can be ensured in another way. For example, a bedroom in a modern house is always a "problem" at night.
