Hello Forista,

I am building a terrace with a porcelain stoneware covering on a gravel base layer and drain concrete.

On the internet, I always find the note on "drain concrete" that it is made with trass cement.
Trass in cement, among other things, ensures that concrete becomes watertight.
I don't understand that, because drain concrete is supposed to let water through. So why is an additive used that does the opposite???
Since trass cement is 50% more expensive than "normal" garden construction cement, my question is whether it can possibly be replaced in drain concrete when porcelain stoneware is used.

Is there maybe someone here with the appropriate training who can answer this question?

Thanks for your input
Thomas

PS I asked this question in another forum; a discussion quickly goes off track, so here is the info that I do not want to buy ready-made material in bags, do not want to have a silo installed here for the 2.5 cubic meters, and I now also know that trass prevents efflorescence on natural stone, but I am not installing natural stone.
