Is there sufficient light in the hallway? Please share your opinion

Hello,

we have a fairly large hallway (approx. 3 x 5.5 m), of which 2 x 2 m is a stairwell. We have only planned 1 double casement window 74 x 118 cm. The rafters are arranged so that it can be on the outside of one wall, on the outside of the other wall, or in the middle. Now my question is whether the room will not become too dark. Due to symmetry, I only see 3 windows as an option or what do you think? Thanks in advance.

As a note, maybe also that the hallway on the ground floor is not particularly bright either, since we don’t have a fixed side panel next to the door, but only a small extra window, it would also appreciate light from above...

My ideas at the moment: 1) to place 2 windows above the stairwell so that it is basically symmetrical at least with the opening there. I would then put none above the gallery

2) 1 window in the middle

3) 3 narrower windows

To be honest, I don't really know what to make of the drawing. Is that a top view? Elevation? Of what? Wall? Ok, I see the hallway dimensions... It would also generally not be appropriate to give advice regarding necessary? symmetry if you don't know the rest. Is it supposed to be symmetrical from the inside? Why? The hallway certainly won't be furnished symmetrically, nor does it have symmetrical doors... The staircase isn't symmetrical either...

Sorry for the sketch.. it was late yesterday.
Attached again is the floor plan of the upper floor with the possible window positions as allowed by the rafters. According to the architect, only a double casement window above the gallery was planned, but I now find it too cramped against the wall. If anything, I would rather place it centrally.
Or two windows, but over the gallery and stairs looks stupid to me; if then two above the stairs, since there is already a stairwell there, it could look good.

Maximum window size is 74 x 118 cm.

But this looks quite nice and reasonable, the whole thing. Also in symmetry with the corridor width. Some will probably criticize the cleaning, but I can say that our double-wing window somehow cleans itself.

You mean with "so" 3 windows? I actually find that a bit too much. I was rather thinking of one or two... then the question of position(s) arises.
As I said, with one window then centered, or with 2 windows centered and right (i.e. above the stairs).
With 3 windows I would rather go for a narrow width, instead of 74 then 65 or even 54 just...??

I don't consider width worth discussing now. But three windows across the width is kind of a highlight – the ground floor will benefit from that a bit. The effect is like a glass roof. You wouldn’t get that effect with one or two windows.
