Is the price for the soil survey not too high?

I have contacted several companies regarding a soil survey for my building plot. The prices were all around €2,500, which seems relatively high to me – especially since I have often read that surveys can be obtained for around €500 - 1000.

Maybe I also described the survey incorrectly?

The costs for a soil survey for a single-family house planning (3 dynamic probing tests), excluding infiltration verification for soil permeability, should be in the range of gross € 1,200 - 1,500. Costs below € 1,000 are unlikely or associated with a limited scope of investigation. It would then possibly not be a sufficiently meaningful report usable for the structural engineer. The scope of the investigation should have been precisely specified in the contract.

Stadt&Land offers a soil survey at a cost of about €600. When we initially considered the company, we commissioned the surveying firm through Stadt&Land – but paid for it ourselves. Our construction company saw the report (2 pages) and said they did not want to rely on it. After that, a second report was required, which then comprised 15-20 pages – unfortunately also with the additional costs. But better to have certainty in the foundation than increased risk.
