The contractor had already had 52.3 tons removed because all the excavation didn’t fit. We paid €785 for that, as far as I can read from the invoice, one ton cost €6 net landfill fee... but how many tons are 150m3?

It varies depending on the soil, how loose it is, whether there is a lot of gravel, whether it is wet or dry... But for a solid mass of excavated soil (clay and silt) here at the western tip of the republic, we assume about 1.8 tons per cubic meter.

The offer states "based on actual quantity". It also depends on how quickly the construction site is served by how many trucks. The size of the trucks and the distance to the dumping site also play a role. If the excavator waits half an hour for the next "small transporter" after each loading, it will get expensive. No one here would think of making such an vague offer. But that may vary regionally.

How many tons it is depends on the soil. For clay soil, I would estimate about 350 tons.

It could possibly be because some of the excavation might be dumped at neighbors. They just don't know how much yet.

Clay soil? Who wants that? At most as filler material way at the bottom.
