Hello everyone,

are there any experiences with the following fingerprint scanner for our front door:

ENTRAsys from Sommer

The ENTRASys system from Sommer is to be installed in our front door. Now I am wondering how secure such a system is, since it transmits data wirelessly. According to the manufacturer, it offers the highest security because it is encrypted with a so-called Somloq Rollingcode.

Can anyone say something about this?
1. Recognition rate / reliability of this or other fingerprint systems
2. Security (it is transmitted wirelessly with Somloq Rollingcode)
3. What is a Somloq Rollingcode?

Thank you

Somloq is a common rolling code system like with car keys. It uses a 66-bit encryption and each code is only used once.

However, Somloq2 is already on the market with 128-bit encryption so there must have been a need for action at some point. For whatever reason.

Is never safe, I wouldn’t do it. Over radio, the data can always be intercepted!

Has anyone installed this system (ENTRAsys FD from Sommer) and can provide any experience regarding its reliability?

What about Ekey, can anyone else report on it? Reliability, overall recognition rate, recognition rate with wet fingers, recognition rate with children, ... ???

I will install Ekay in my place. And a friend of mine has installed it and it works well for him. I have no personal experience with it though. ENTRAsys also discouraged me from installing it because of the radio transmission. Especially since cables for power supply are already laid in the door. But why the data then needs to be transmitted wirelessly is beyond me. Although it must be said that it is probably no less secure. At least nowadays I have never heard of burglars breaking into front doors via radio. With cars, however, you often hear about this.
