Hello everyone,

we have received a quote from a painter for our new construction.
Walls and ceilings are all covered with gypsum plasterboards.
The painter will fill and sand the walls and ceilings to Q3.
And then paint with primer.
Afterwards, they should be painted with a high-quality silicate paint and receive a fine-grained texture by mixed-in quartz sand. Some individual walls are to be covered with patterned wallpapers.

Our painter recommends applying a painting fleece before painting to create a more durable and higher-quality base. This should also prevent cracks from the drywall substrate from easily reaching the surface.
During renovation work, this also makes it easier to remove the applied paint and/or wallpaper if necessary. Since the cost for painting fleece amounts to about 5,000 - 6,000 euros for the whole house, we are still considering whether to have it done. What is your experience with this?

Thank you very much!

If he applies putty well, it can be done without, if he works [Rissband] into the first coat of putty on all joints. Without anything at all, there will be cracks. Karsten

The position for the painting fleece is too expensive, even if your single-family house is very large.

I don't think so, we also had painter's fleece applied everywhere and 5000 is rather average for normal-sized houses... it's not like textured wallpaper that any fool can throw on the wall...

By the way, cracks usually always occur whether with or without tape... of course, less with tape.

We also pay that for 600sqm area. (160sqm house). And that was rather in the mid-range price-wise.

There is simple/inexpensive renovation fleece and there is fiberglass fleece, which is more expensive. When evaluating the price, one should know the basis.
