Is light rust staining possible on brushed stainless steel door handles?

Good day. I have noticed that a door handle (brushed stainless steel) has slight rust spots (not flash rust). Could it be that disinfectant wipes cause such rust spots on stainless steel handles? Thank you

Yes, that is possible.

Depending on what the steel consists of and which impurities occur during manufacturing or later use.

Even stainless steel can, under certain circumstances, rust very well.

Yep, I agree with Mycraft. Everyone mistakenly believes that stainless steel cannot corrode. However, it is possible for various reasons – aggressive cleaners are among them.

We have it too, although in a spot that no one would ever touch. How do you remove it, sandpaper?

Picture? But yes, sandpaper is an option.
