Is it sensible to lay bathroom tiles with miter joints/jolly? Are they prone to chipping?

Hi guys,

I'm not sure how to narrow my ceramic tiles on the wall (at the corners)...

Is it better to use a corner trim or to cut the tiles at an angle?
It looks nicer with angled cuts, but how susceptible is that to impacts and paint chipping?

Does anyone have experience with this?

Thanks

Outside corners always with corner strips, you can't cut properly with miter joints (you would have to wet-cut all the tiles) and with joint material it then looks really crappy.

The wet cutting thing is clear to me, I also have a large tile cutter for it... but how prone is it to chipping??

Mitre. A skilled tiler can do that.

During the bathroom renovation in my parents' house, it was done that way. The good tiler swore a bit, but in the end did a great job. There are no chips or other damages. Nor any ugly corner trim.

And if you like, use the same size for floor and wall tiles and make the grout lines continuous, i.e., the grout lines from the wall transition into the floor grout lines without offset. The slight size difference between floor and wall tiles is balanced out from joint to joint. A skilled tiler can do that too.

(Almost) every tile salesperson will try to talk you out of the two points described. Ignore them.

But that will get really expensive, and I find it nicer with stainless steel strips... ... and you'll need an excellent tiler as well!
