I recently saw a super beautiful cork floor at some friends' place. Is it possible to install it yourself?

If you are skilled in craftsmanship, you can also lay floor coverings. Above all, you must be able to make cutouts (e.g., around heating pipes or fireplaces) and adjustments to walls, otherwise it will look ugly. The subfloor must be completely even, otherwise every unevenness/inaccuracy in the subfloor will be visible through the cork. There are many DIY enthusiasts who lay floors - it works.

Hello,

We have also laid a cork floor ourselves and it is not a big deal. My husband is skilled at handiwork and I am his right support. :)

We laid the cork floating and the subfloor was even and dust-free. The individual parts are joined together. The expansion joint is also important and it must not be too narrow. Otherwise, there will be bulges later.

The work was enjoyable for both of us.

Hello,

This is really not too big of a hurdle. I have installed cork myself several times. If someone is unsure, there are several videos on the Internet that explain it in detail.

Even beginners can manage that. Cork should be stored in the room where it will be installed for 48 hours.

Hello Hannes,

Thank you very much for the information and we also want to lay a cork floor next week. I just found some videos online and the installation is described in detail there.

Your tip about the 48 hours is also good, we wouldn't have thought of that. :(

There are no problems with that and cork can be installed easily. The cork parquet must be glued down over the entire surface. It is also important to ensure that the subfloor is dry and free of other substances. I then applied the adhesive to the cork parquet and the subfloor with a roller. Then I waited about an hour until the adhesive became transparent. After that, the cork parquet was installed.
