Is it feasible and sensible to install underfloor heating after a floor cut-through?

Hello,

we purchased a newly built terraced house, unfortunately late, so we couldn't customize much. Now the handover is coming up soon and we are planning the kitchen. We would like to relocate the water connections to another spot. Surface mounting is certainly possible, but breaking through the floor would of course be much more practical.

Does it make sense to even think about something like this? I keep reading about thermal imaging cameras, but on the other hand many strongly advise against them.

Best regards, mman

Yes. But it is considerably more complex. Any installer can advise you or find the loops of the underfloor heating (for example, loops must maintain at least 50mm distance from walls according to DIN - this is enough for water pipes).

Would a plumber then also be the right person for the execution? I just wonder who I have to contact regarding this.

I would consult him. Basically, it is feasible. But I also like the surface-mounted option (except if it would be visible somewhere). I am generally a fan of countertops that offer more than the usual 60cm, so there is enough space behind the cabinets (and of course on the countertop for working in the kitchen or recessed sockets).
