Is grouting clinker with ready-made mortar more laborious?

Good evening everyone,

we are currently building new and the cladding is now to be grouted. Since the grouting contractor cannot mix a nice cement gray at all, we have decided to use a ready-mixed mortar from the brand [quick-mix]. However, this incurs an additional cost. We can understand the additional cost for the material itself. However, the grouting contractor says that there is also an additional charge for the processing because grouting with a ready-mixed mortar is more time-consuming.

However, no one can really explain this to us. Can someone perhaps help us?

Well, you just can't explain it! From the perspective of an expert: simply nonsense! On the contrary, it is easier (savings) since you always get an identical result per sack.

For me, it is grouted afterwards .... the processors with us, however, are grateful for bagged goods.

We only had to pay the (geringen) surcharge for the bulk goods. But it was definitely worth it to us for a deep black joint.

Thank you very much for the information. I know that the material depends on the size of the house. But may I ask approximately how high the additional cost was? Unfortunately, we received almost no information about what was offset against the contractual performance, so we don't even know if the additional cost for the material is fair.
