Is consulting a building expert shortly before acceptance reasonable?

So... here is a little update as promised. We have now decided against the external expert. He would have only "visually" inspected and thus probably seen the same things as the TÜV expert.

We currently have a very good feeling about this decision. All defects found can be remedied and therefore do not pose an obstacle to approval.
